Whats the best way to get from milton keynes to cambridge and back?

i'm going to cambridge on the 6th of may for a gig. doors open at 7, so i want to be there before then, then i dont know what time its due to finnish but i guess it would be about 11? how can i get back and to there, the quickest and safest way. detailed plans please. i'm only 16.
