How can I convince my mom to get me a dog?

Ok, I'm with you, I've had dogs WITH cats my whole life & thru-out my childrens lives. I have a 17 yr' old cat & a 12 yr. old Pug & they love each other & even sleep together...at times.....! BUT I have to give your Mom some slack because it is truly a big obligation. Having a dog is so much more than walking.I don't mean to herp on you,I really am on your side but I still feel that i should remind you that they are very close to having a child. You can't leave them alone for any length of time & if your family goes on vacation,you'd have to have a babysitter for him. You have to potty train them, you have to feed them & give them heart worm pills.You have to keep up their shote & of course they have to be spayed or nuetered. I was SO happy to hear you want to rescue!! Yeah! Do you know that 800 milion Cats & Dogs were put down last yr. because people don't spay them!? Isn't that sad? It's really only because of that reason! There's so many adult dogs in a rescue that really need a loving home & if you decide to get one of those,they're almost always already potty trained & know how to sit or come like you'd have to teach a puppy. And oh yes, the chewing! That's always fun! So please think about all thses things & plenty more,if you are able to get one. And tell your Mom I said it sounds lke you're ready to have a dog,since you cared to ask & you're reading up on it! I'm very proud of you!
