White Cloud Mountain Minnows?

I have a 2.5-3 gallon tank with filtration, gravel, decor, and an air pump. How many white cloud mountain minnows can I get? People told me 6. Is this accurate? Also, how much are they usually? Any other info would be great, like how they breed, and etc.. Can they eat tropical flakes?
